Parish NewsCore Strategy Consultation - Urgent
The new North West Leicestershire Core Strategy Document is proposing a potential site for a new Strategic Distribution Centre South of Lockington on a site of 110 hectares (Artist Impression Above). This is the preferred option for the Council subject to the current consultation process. The paper is available at: http://www.nwleics.gov.uk/development_planning_ldf/documents/Core%5FStrategy%5FFinal%5FNO%5FAPPENDICES%2Epdf You should look at the plan for the distribution centre and also the housing proposals for Castle Donington. The proposed layout is below. The Parish Council believe this proposal to be grossly disproportionate to the area and would have serious effect on our environment particularly noise and air pollution. However we are seeking urgently your views. To that end a meeting is being held in the Village Hall on the 10th of December 2008 at 7.30pm. Please attend and allow us to demonstrate to the attending Councillors our feelings with regard to this proposal. We need numbers and we need passion about the future of our Villages. In addition you are also urgently requested to put your feelings in writing and send your comments to the leader of the District Council, and the councillor responsible for this document who needs to be aware of your views about this proposal, perhaps its size, it’s location in an area already beset with noise and pollution, etc. His e-mail address is: Leader of the Council - Councillor Richard Blunt - richard.blunt@nwleicestershire.gov.uk Lets fill their mail trays and e-mail in boxes! Please make your feelings, known this will be your last opportunity, the consultation finishes at the end of January, so do it now!!! We would suggest that if you disagree with the proposal you should ensure they understand that this is a highly political proposal which will effect your future voting and that you will involve yourself in full opposition to the proposal (if that is your view). The plan is attached below, brace yourself it is frightening: Showmans Site - Rycroft Road - Appeal UpheldUpdated 9th June 2008 The recent appeal against the NWLDC refusal to agree planning permission for a temporary Showmens facility on the Rycroft Road site has been upheld by the Government Inspector. The current occupants have been given temporary pernmission to stay. The permission is restricted to the current occupants of the site and is for a three year period. We have been informed by the NWLDC that they will not be taking further action given the nature of the judgement. Grants Awarded for Village Hall Re-RoofingThe Village Hall Committee have managed to secure a £29,000.00 grant from Flag (Gravel Extraction Fund) for the re-roofing of the Village Hall. A further grant of £2,000.00 has been made by the Parish Council. The work to be completed in December/January. This is an important grant as it starts the process of refurbishment that the hall needs, which will be pursued over the coming years, and ensures the long-term viability of an essential community asset. |
