NO AMBUSH(Additional Mega structure Buildings Unnecessarily Sited Here)
The picture on the reverse depicts the proposed strategic rail distribution centre to be sited on a 110 hectare site just north of East Midlands Airport. The proposed site is 75% the size of the current Airport. About, 130 Wembley Stadiums! Bigger than Castle Donington AND Kegworth. The illustration doesn’t show all the detail, like the overhead tram passing through Kegworth or the balancing ponds around Lockington, but it does give an idea of the awful impact this site will have 24/7 365 days per year. The current administration in North West Leicestershire District Council have proposed this in their local development framework to be adopted in 2011. This is their idea and is not a mandatory requirement. The proposal can be viewed at NWLDC website www.nwleics.gov.uk. The plan also includes a large quantity of additional housing to be created in our area and a further commercial site at Sawley Crossroads.
The action group have identified far more suitable sites in and around the county which are existing industrial parks AND your council have the ability to turn the proposal down.
WE NEED YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT.
The more objections received by the council the more likely they are to turn it down. Objections need to be sent by the 13th Feb 2009. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THIS TO SOMEONE ELSE.
What does this mean for you and your families?
A development of this scale will:
• Impact on the value of houses in the area, as we move from villages to industrial centres and your ability to sell your house in the future. (Once approved this will appear on all house searches).
• Significantly increased congestion both from people travelling to work there and Lorries collecting and delivering freight. Early indications are that hundreds of Lorries a day would pass through the terminal. This will impact on your travel time to work; taking your children to school 2mins to the M1 may easily become 20 minutes to the M1, with a further increase in our villages as a rat run.
• Noise, Light and Air pollution. The scale of this development means that light pollution would essentially create 24 hours of daylight over the area. Mile long freight trains would run 24 hours a day and Lorries would run in and out of the development 24 hours a day.
• We already have far more than our fair share of industry and commerce in this area. The Airport, Race Track, Trent lane and Willow farm industrial estates all with a woefully inadequate local road network to support what we already have. We need to keep the rural balance we have now.
• Dirt and dust. Our cars, homes and roads will be covered in dust grime for many years to come.
Do you want this to be your future? If not please have your say and object to the council’s proposal?
